CREATE IN ME A CLEAN HEART OH GOD. Create in me a clean heart oh God. Psalm 51:10 (KJV) “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
Pleading, “create in me a clean heart and renew within me a right spirit”,
David, the author of Psalm 51, had to restore his relationship with God after his adultery with Bathsheba.
Having been called “a man after God’s own heart”,
David knew that seeking forgiveness and
restoration from God was not negotiable.
This seemingly crispy clean man committed adultery and murder. In all fairness, David had
to go to the gallows and eventually face the inferno of eternal hell.
However, there is a God that specializes in forgiveness and restoration.
David asks God to CREATE in him a clean heart – suggesting that he owned a filthy heart.
He wants that removed and replaced with a brand-new heart from God.
David further acknowledges ending up with a ruined spirit. Thus, he appeals to God to
RENEW “a right spirit” within him.
Aren’t we also drenched in perpetual sin? Do we continue to sin in order for God’s grace to increase?
Let’s pray: “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
