BEING VICTORIOUS IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY. Being victorious in the face of adversity. It is an open secret that we are all faced with adversity some time or the other. We
are human beings. We are fallible, imperfect and error-prone.
But even more, we are faced with peril, threats and uncertainty all the while. In fact, it
often seems that misfortune and tribulation have come to make nest under my roof.
Adversity and heartbreak often line themselves up in our homes and in love
relationships. These shocks and setbacks often carry with them possibilities of
trauma and pain.
Because we never expected the catastrophe, we are often driven to the edge of
desperation. We feel abused and exploited. We look at the good we have tried to do,
yet in return, we received a kick in the teeth.
What often leaves us dumbfounded and in pain, is the vehement nature of the
infliction – as if the perpetrator has no regard – as if the intention was not only to stab
the dagger into your heart, but to devilishly turn and twist it to maximize the agony.
Now then is the time to remember that Jesus is in the business of comfort, console
and solace. He understands it all. He feels the pain with you. He shares your
When you take it to the Lord in prayer, He soothes away the pain, tranquilizes your
heart, anoints your soul, and assists you to make peace and find peace within
yourself and in him.
He makes all things new.
“I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have
learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him
who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:12-13
